We invite you to a two-hour guided tour of the Cottbus Prison Memorial on October 9th at 10:30 a.M.

The former prison, in operation from 1860 to 2002, offers a unique perspective on two dark chapters of German history. The tour focuses on its use under two dictatorships:

  • During the Nazi era, Cottbus served as a youth prison until 1936 and then as a women’s prison until 1945.
  • During the GDR, the site became a political prison, where countless people were incarcerated for opposing the regime.

The tour includes both the outdoor areas and a visit to the permanent exhibition. It will be held in English and is limited to 25 participants. The entrance is free.
